principles and benefits of ~reiki~Permalink

I must first-off apologize for my recent total over-use of the ~~~~ symbol.
I just can’t stop! It’s a pleasing little symbol.

Jesse (my Chakra Khan partner) (and friend) and I recently attended Level I Reiki Training–her first time and my second. I will be attending Level II later this month and I am so excited–more fun stuff!

Reiki is similar to Shiatsu or Thai Bodywork, in that it uses the idea of energy in its healing, but it is different in that it is not a physical massaging or manipulation of the body, but more of a laying-on of hands or hovering of hands above the body. In that sense it is sort of an UN-doing, or NON-doing–it’s not something where you strategize and plan, it’s all about allowing things to take place. It’s kind of hard to explain until you experience it (okay, I need to work on that then…) But in my practice sessions, I’ll sometimes think, “Oh I feel like I’m not “doing” anything”…and in someways I’m not~~but a lot is happening.

I’ll dive more into the specifics of a session at a later date, but for now I will share the Reiki Principles and the benefits of reiki.

The Reiki Principles: Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings. Just for today, I will trust the processes of life. Just for today, I will be happy and accepting. Just for today, I will work honestly and do my best. Just for today, I will be kind and loving to my neighbor and every living thing. –Liz Severino
